Exploring Shakespeare’s text through creative movement

Our Project

We’re raising money for our production of Romeo and Juliet! Currently in the Research and Development stages, this project combines Shakespeare’s text with devised movement and will culminate in a physically distanced outdoor production to showcase our work.

All funds will be used to help us cover production costs, but our focus for this fundraiser is to assist with travel expenses so actors don’t need to stress about getting from place to place!

Who are we?

Momentum Acts is an emerging company set up by Dana Day and Naledi Withers, who between them have extensive training in dance and theatre. The two are currently studying at Bath Spa University on the MA Performing Shakespeare course.

What we do!

The aim of Momentum Acts is to make the often complicated work of Shakespeare more approachable, and to encourage audiences to feel comfortable engaging with his plays by allowing them to experience the work through an additional creative medium.

We are currently exploring how this can be achieved in performance through dance and physical theatre, developing ways of physically responding to the textual analysis of Romeo and Juliet. We also wish to develop educational workshops that allow young audiences to engage with and make discoveries about Shakespeare’s text through the processes we are currently using in the creation of Romeo and Juliet.

We need you!

In such a difficult time, donations of any size are so appreciated! When you donate, you support the actors involved in this project by helping offset their travel costs. Getting to Bath is not always a quick or affordable journey, and your donation allows these talented performers to continue doing the work they do regardless of their individual financial situations.

In the long term, our donors will be the first to receive news about upcoming projects and events. As a developing company, we are eager to interact with our supporters and find ways to bring you exciting, collaborative theatre.

How your support will help us

If we hit our minimum or our full target, the money goes directly toward travel costs and other production expenses like costumes and photography.

Any money raised above the target will be idled to fund future Momentum Acts projects. If we are able, we also hope to provide financial support to other performers in the community!

Keeping you in the loop

We hope to provide weekly updates on this project as it moves through the research and development process, with further updates if and when the project is transitioned into a full production.

Rewards

We so appreciate your support, and we want to say thank you! To make sure you get the most from your donation, we’ve got fun rewards for every price point.

Help us succeed!

We love donations, but if you’re not currently in a position to donate, we’d love it if you shared our content with your friends and family!

As a new company, we are gaining our footing and rely on supporters like you who can spread the word about the work we’re doing.
