Launch Pad helps our students and staff get their ideas off the ground! By connecting our community with creative projects that inspire passion and imagination, we're encouraging our students, staff, alumni and supporters to share and explore ideas that capture our vision of being the university for Creativity, Culture, and Enterprise.
You can use this site to raise funds to start up your creative venture; be it an event, a campaign, a business venture, or building a prototype.
How It Works
In a nutshell: Create a Launch Pad user log-in and use the website to build and host your project. You’ll promote the project, provide updates and encourage people’s support by offering rewards. If you meet your funding minimum (or exceed it!) by your deadline, the money is yours.
If the project doesn’t reach the minimum target, no money changes hands.
Unlike other crowdfunding platforms (e.g. Kickstarter), there are no fees, so every penny raised goes towards the project.
Help and Support: The Launch Pad team is available to answer questions and offer feedback and advice about a project before it goes live on the website. We’re also happy to meet up with you or have a chat on the phone about your project - just drop us an email and we’ll get back to you asap!
Once we’ve published your project, we’ll give you a hand with promotion by sharing it on our social media channels. If you have any specific marketing materials such as images or a video, we can like, share and retweet that too! It is ultimately up to you (and any friends you recruit) to promote the project and raise the funds, but we’re always here to help - even if you just need someone to cheer you on a bit!
For students: We provide crowdfunding support to students whose project is:
Part of curricular activity like an assessed project or degree show
A personal entrepreneurial idea and not part of your degree
Related to a new or existing Students’ Union club or society
For staff: If your use is directly linked to your teaching, research, or professional role.
